Infrared Building Envelope Inspection
The purpose of an infrared inspection of a building envelope is to locate and document exceptions from the building envelope that can be potential problems including the following:
- Conductive Exceptions: Usually caused by insufficient, improperly installed, damaged or water-saturated insulation and/or structural components including EIFS.
- Convective Exceptions: usually caused by cracks and holes that permit the uncontrolled movement of air across the building envelope.
Once the inspection complete, the thermographer will compile both thermal and visible light images into a written report. Images will be accompanied by collection data, location, description, and if desired, repair priorities of the exceptions.
